More of us!

Hello one and all. Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet of late, no excuses at all just enjoying the sunshine on my roof! Right to business then what has been going on inside my walls? A few changes, moves, new arrivals have been happening or are about to happen. Artistitch Design has joined us in the cubby holes downstairs and we’ll just wow! You should see the work that goes into her lovely handmade goods. Well worth a peep folks. Superb presents too if you’re looking for something unique.

Sugar Hill are going to be taking on a larger space in August so she will be moving from her shelf under Tangled Vine the candles to by the window upstairs. We are so excited to be getting some more beautifully restored furniture in.

The Outhouse in amongst the minor issue of getting married moved into a larger space just before the ceremony! Cheeky monkey then went on honeymoon and the girls sold his stock!

Grace Face Boutique has been having a sale with her beautiful handmade adult dresses, just a few left if you fancy owning one of the best made dresses around.

image

Vintage Daisy moved in downstairs with her lovely mix of vintage style and true vintage goodies. Proving very popular too and so beautifully displayed. She also has her own place – The Little Grey Shepherds Hut at The Yards in Kettering so do pop over for a shop.

image

Nicholas & Steele restock most weeks in their fabulous back room but beware they seem to bring a tonne of rain with them lol! The girls tell me it’s well worth following them on Instagram and Facebook as they sometimes have table top sales of all their gorgeousness.

image

Mercer & Rose are now in place in our cubbyholes and again it’s all just sooooo beautiful. Pop in and take a gander.

image

Mr Pip Goes Solo is taking over the gents clothing upstairs in August and promises us tweed jackets including Burberry and Harris Tweed, hats from flat caps to top hats, braces, ties, cravats and more. Watch this space.

image

We have a few more new businesses in the pipeline too so keep an eye on the girls Facebook and Instagram pages. Remember you can tweet them too (personally I thought that was just up to the pigeons on my roof but hey ho!?!!!)

Lastly I’ve realised not everyone knows that the emporium is actually made up of over 30 different, independent small businesses all trading under the same roof. So when you support us you are supporting a number of people in the local community. The girls have put links on the website to the different businesses so it’s well worth a click to find out who makes No.38 so special. Ta ra for now folks…….

March has Sprung

image

Good morning my lovelies. Have you spotted that the girls have treated me to some new sparkly lights in my windows? Very posh they are too and I’m allowed to keep them on at night too so you can still see how amazingly stunning I am! I also hear talk that finally I may get a better heating system, the landlord has agreed to help out so that’s great news and means I can be cosier now.

The girls had a film crew in last week as they were finalists in the Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards. It was jolly good fun watching them get all tongue tied and embarrassed. The lovely people from Evolution International who were filming us all kept saying how fabulous I was. Well I had spruced myself up a bit for the occasion too. The girls left me on Thursday to go to the awards and jolly gorgeous they both looked too!

image

Did you know I have CCTV? It picks up all areas of my lovely rooms, which is a good thing as we have had a couple of naughty people in who have taken some bits from the shelves as well as some items from outside. Sadly the girls are going to have chain the goodies left outside to one of my pillars…..I’m hoping it won’t be too tight and cut me circulation off, after all these pillars of mine hold me in place!

Nothing haunts you like the vintage you didn’t buy is pretty apt at No.38.(Apart from my two friendly resident ghosts who play a few tricks every now and then) I’ve noticed you need to be pretty quick as stock is here one day and gone the next. It’s no good popping in several weeks later asking after a certain something the likelihood is that it will have been snapped up!

I’m loving all the vintage and handmade clothing upstairs. The Sherpa jackets are really popular. If you have a vintage do to go to then you will definitely find your outfit upstairs. Chaps of distinction have some fab suits, jackets, hats and braces. Grace Face Boutique has the most gorgeous handmade dresses in wonderful fabrics. Ann has some beautiful new handmade little dresses in at the top of my stairs. Maggie Ann Vintage has the perfect outfits for you ladies for Twinwood, Goodwood, Festival of Vintage etc. The beauty is they all come in most sizes! Throwback Vintage has certainly sent us all back in time with their shell suits, denim jackets and plaid shirts.

image

The girls have also changed my weird little bit down the side into a more gifty area with the stock they bought at the Spring Fair plus the handmade cards from my residents. New uniforms have arrived too, a hoody to keep them warm and an apron each all with my name printed on them of course.

image

Anyway I need to stop chatting away now and get ready for the girls to arrive and open me up now, it is Saturday after all…….

Catch Up Time

Hello time for a wee catch up on the happenings inside my doors me thinks! Well all sorts has been going on with the arrival of several new traders, who are proving terribly popular with you all. Throwback Vintage is now installed upstairs and pop in to restock on both a Monday and a Friday so I get to see the very glamorous Faye who I must say dresses beautifully. They arrive with bags full of Levi’s, Sherpa jackets, flying jackets, plaid shirts and more.

image

Next up is Chaps of Distinction and jolly dapper they are too. Roy and Linda run this outfit and travel a fair distance to be part of the girls emporium. So gents if it’s jackets, suits, hats, shoes, cravats in 1940’s style that you are after then pop upstairs and peruse. They also make something called a tussie mussie, picture below for those who aren’t in the know.

image

The Outhouse is also upstairs and they make some fabulous goods out of sustainable materials. Greg who owns the business has made the girls a flashing wooden arrow to go on my staircase, I am just so on trend now for an old geezer!

image

Twinkle n Things joined the girls downstairs in the cubby holes and is also very popular, boy the work that goes into those pretty tins is incredible.

image

Sew Rosie Sew is our cushion lady and she will make personalised cushions for you with names, sayings etc all in the most gorgeous fabrics. Beautifully made they are too. You may have seen the lovely Debbie who makes the cushions at the big handmade and vintage fair in Central Milton Keynes.

image

Maggie Ann Vintage who was already with us has taken on more space so she can expand her range of very popular clothing which comes in all sizes. We have Hell Bunny, Lindybop, Collectif, Seamstress of Bloomsbury and more. Lots of you lovely ladies are choosing to buy your clothing here now and I think you all look so smart in it.

image

Mabel’s Vintage has also joined us and brings a mix of Art Deco items and a haberdashery with cottons, buttons, scissors, sewing boxes, lace, ribbons and more. Pop upstairs for a peep, no need to trek to that big old John Lewis now, it’s here in Newport Pagnell.

image

The girls tell me that they are in the final of the Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards for Independent Retailer. Wow just wow! Obviously it’s all down to me and my absolutely handsome insides! Talking of which I hear there is a film crew coming in March so I need to look my best for that. A bit of a spruce up is on the cards, I shall get those girls flicking the duster around ASAP! Rightie O time to get ready to open my doors to all you lovely peeps. See you soon xxx
